"The second half of the evening began with a song by Dr. Coxe, La nuit froide et sombre (2014) (The cold and somber night), on a text by Joachim du Bellay (1525-c.1560) with a setting that might have been composed by an Impressionist. The text speaks of a night that rolls out as sweet as honey, carrying us into sleep followed by the early glow of day that brings us back to toil. The closing line says “The varied tint weaves and composes the great universe.” It left me wanting to stand and ask for the brief, sweet experience to to be repeated. Anna Sterrett was soloist.

Abduction from the Seraglio, Opera Roanoke 2014

"
The counter pair of lovers, Belmonte’s servant Pedrillo and Konstanze’s maid Blonde, was sung by lyric tenor Kelly Burns and coloratura Anna Sterrett, respectively. Both singers contributed more than just fine singing, adding delight and wit to the comedy."

Lucia di Lammermoor, Opera della Riva

"Ms. Sterrett’s Regnava nel Silenzio, was tenderly sung with beautiful line and effortless coloratura passages...The most important moment in this opera is Lucia’s “Mad Scene” after she has stabbed her groom to death in their wedding chamber. This scene alone was worth the price of the ticket. Ms. Sterrett appeared frail and pale; swooning as she sang one of the most difficult arias in operatic repertoire. Her legato lines were heart-tugging, her staccato passages were spot-on, and, to help matters, when she sang her cadenzas which imitated a bird, there was a bird flying about just behind the large window of the altar. Did someone call central casting?"

The Magic Flute, Opera Roanoke 2013

"Anna Sterrett, was amusingly coy as the disguised Papagena and then transformed herself into an energetic and playful Pocohontas look-alike; the "Pa-pa-pa" duet with Papageno revealed a bright and agile soprano voice."

Trois poems de Stéphane Mallarmé, Ravel

"...we heard an exquisite performance of Trois poems de Stéphane Mallarmé (1913) by Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) featuring soprano Anna Sterrett with a nine-piece chamber orchestra led by Stephen Coxe, Artistic Director of Instrumental Music. The flawless singing was accompanied by instrumental players who found the perfect balance with the voice in the languid, moody music."

Handel's MESSIAH
"Her silver stream of beautiful sound cut through the orchestra, allowing the text to be understood.

A Midsummer's Song
"Ms. Sterrett was an equally persuasive lover with her rich, sweet sound and controlled high notes that were incredible...The audience was totally charmed."

The Fantasticks
"There's plenty to like in this endearing staging, most notably the stunning, flawless performance of Anna Sterrett, the girl at the center of the story. With a lovely coloratura voice that belongs on Broadway, and stage presence to match, Sterrett is irresistible. She nails every vocal note and nuance with the perfection of an accomplished professional.
The energy, richness, and freshness she brings to her role give this production by The Franktown Players a special glow and very sturdy legs. Sterrett is a scene stealer..."
